Trout Creek BDA Project

Join Us for a Habitat Work Day at Trout Creek

Want to make a difference for Wyoming’s wildlife and watersheds? Roll up your sleeves and join the Wyoming Wildlife Federation and Trout Unlimited for a hands-on Habitat Day on Friday, September 26, 2025.

We’ll be meeting at Cruel Jack’s in Rock Springs at 9 a.m. before heading out to Trout Creek, where volunteers will help complete maintenance on Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) built a few years ago. BDAs are low-tech, cost-effective structures that mimic the work of beavers—slowing down water, restoring wetlands, and creating healthier habitat for fish and wildlife.

In addition to BDA upkeep, we’ll also be cutting aspens to provide food and building material for beavers currently working in the area. By supporting these natural ecosystem engineers, we can help boost habitat resiliency and keep water on the landscape longer.

What to Bring:

  • Water & lunch

  • Work gloves

  • A shovel (if you have one)

  • Sturdy shoes and outdoor work clothes

We’ll provide snacks and drinks to keep you fueled throughout the day.

This is a great opportunity to give back to public lands, meet fellow conservationists, and directly support the wildlife and waterways that make Wyoming special.
