Kids who spend time outside experience a wide host of benefits; spending a lot of time outside and especially in nature supports motor coordination, social, emotional, and intellectual developmental milestones and can really help young kids get a head start on life. Preschooler's brains are developing faster than at almost any other point in their lives, which makes this even more pivotal for them.
That's why we teamed up with Get Wild Wyoming, Wyoming Wildlife Foundation, and the Francis R. Dewing Foundation to create "Let's Go Outside: An Activity Book for Preschoolers."
Andrea Barbknecht, WWF's associate director/education director, created this pocket-sized booklet filled with 100 seasonally organized activities for preschoolers. 300 booklets have been printed out and distributed to preschool teachers across the state to use in their classrooms! Activities range in time from 5 minutes to 2 hours, from zero materials needed to more elaborate setups, and aim to engage kids in a variety of ways (math, creativity, sensory, and more).
The best part? You don't need to be a teacher to get your hands on this resource! We've created an online library so anyone with preschool aged kids can utilize these fun ways to get outside! Check out the full library here and let us know what you think!
