Watchable Wildlife Tour and Wine Event!
Saturday, Aug. 27 – Sheridan, Wyo
The Wyoming Wildlife Federation (WWF), Wyoming Game and Fish Department (G&F) and the Bighorn Audubon Society have teamed up to offer the public a day in the field watching and learning about wildlife.
Meet us at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton (1100 US Hwy 14). (map)
That evening, please join us back in Sheridan to celebrate Wyoming’s wildlife at a special WWF Wine Event with speakers, music and a live auction at Western Wineries (details below).
Field Day: Join us in the field to tour Amsden Creek Wildlife Habitat Management Area and Tongue River Canyon, near Dayton. G&F and WWF experts will be on hand to discuss the species that inhabit the area as well as the importance of succulent forage for big game animals. A recent wildfire in the canyon will serve as the backdrop. Fire is important for creating nutritious forage for wildlife browsers.
Bring your binoculars! Representatives of the Bighorn Audubon Society will provide us with some birding opportunities, including tips on what clues to look for, bird calls, and species identification based on habitat type.
Wine Event: Weston Wineries has created a special vintage and wine label for this WWF fundraising event. The party starts at 5:30 p.m., Weston Wineries, 122 N. Main St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
