Coalter Loft (upstairs Lander Bar)
Lander, Wyoming
September 25th, 6pm-8pm
WWF will be organizing a meeting of fishing guides from around the state to discuss potential legislation to require fishing outfitters and guides to be licensed when working in Wyoming. This meeting is to bring together the outfitting community to engage them in this legislative process. Currently there is no active trade organization for Wyoming Fishing Outfitters and Guides. This meeting is organized to help Wyoming Wildlife Federation know what outfitters want and to encourage outfitters and guides to formally organize around the issue of licensing and day use regulations, similar to hunting.
Background and Insight
The Travel, Recreation, Wildlife, and Cultural Resources committee is looking at drafting a bill to require Wyoming Fishing guides to be licensed through the state. As well as begin assigning use permits on specified rivers. They will be discussing this bill on October 2,3 in Dubois Wyoming. Our meeting on September 25th is meant to organize fishing guides ahead of any upcoming legislation, teach effective strategies on testifying, to gauge sentiment regarding the proposed bill, and next steps for the guides to take.
