Frozen bubbles
Time: 10-15 minutes
Materials: 1 cup hot water, 2.5 tablespoons corn syrup, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2.5 tablespoons dish soap, straws or bubble wands, a plastic container or bowl
Activity: Pick a day when the temperatures are around 10 degrees F or colder. Mix all of the ingredients and set outside or in the freezer to cool, not freeze. Dip straws or wands in the solution and gently blow bubbles onto a surface (snow works well). Watch the ice crystals form as the bubble freezes. Practice different techniques. Detaching the bubble can be the most challenging aspect of freezing bubbles. Make sure you remove the straw or wand quickly before the bubble starts to freeze to minimize frustration.
