Grass whistles
Time: 5-10 minutes
Materials: none
Activity: Ask kids if they have ever made music with something from nature. Pick blades of grass (firmer more fibrous blades work best). Demonstrate pinching the grass between the knuckles of both thumbs with the thumbnails facing you. Blow across the grass to make a loud whistle. Music bonus: Investigate what else in the environment makes interesting sounds and make a nature band.
