Leaf sewing
Time: 5-15 minutes
Materials: yarn, child safe needles
Activity: Have kids collect multiple hand-sized leaves. Thread the needles, knot the yarn ends, and coach kids through sewing the leaves together, one edge at a time. Have discussions about how much pressure to use so they don’t rip the leaves as an explicit teaching of fine motor skills. End products could range from two leaves connected, a leaf square, or a whole leaf blanket for the very enthusiastic sew-ers.
