The Development Manager plays a key role on a dynamic team of talented individuals committed to Wyoming’s legacy of conservation, working closely with the Executive Director to implement Wyoming Wildlife Federation’s (WWF’s) fundraising strategy.

Position: Development Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Lander, WY (Preferred/Remote Potential)

Full-time: 40 hours a week

Hiring Date: Spring/Early Summer 2024

Salary Range: $50,000 - $53,000

Scope:

Oversee all aspects of our grant-based fundraising - from foundations ranging in stature from national prominence to small family foundations. The position will also focus on stewardship and cultivation of WWF’s individual donors and corporate sponsors.

Primary Duties:

  • Help the Executive Director implement the development plan
  • Oversee the writing of grant inquiries, proposals, and reports
  • Maintain the grants database and sourcing of new grant opportunities
  • Manage the grant calendar
  • Identify and conduct preliminary research on new relationships with foundations, individuals, and corporate partners
  • Maintain administrative tools including prospect spreadsheets, inquiry letters, and tools for tracking income and fundraising progress
  • Help with corporate/industry sponsorships
  • Oversee the planning and execution of annual fundraisers
  • Oversee the administration of the donor database such as processing donations, preparing acknowledgment letters, and donor correspondence
  • Manage systems for gift entry and donor acknowledgment, ensuring that every donor receives a prompt acknowledgment for their contribution
  • Oversee ongoing opportunities for contact with past and current donors, including drafting and distributing tailored program updates, and coordinating donor visits
  • Work with the WWF team to develop a budget for annual income and expenditures for the development program
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding donations, pledge commitments, and partnership opportunities
  • Network and support team members at WWF events
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have the majority of the following qualifications and the ability to attain
proficiency in the remainder of the probationary year.

  • College degree
  • Three years of relevant experience with non-profits and/or three years of development experience conducting at least 60% of the job duties described
  • Successful grant writing experience
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship and cultivation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with databases and CRM systems
  • Proficient in managing and tracking multiple projects/fundraising opportunities
  • Aptitude for computers, computer software, and other types of office equipment
  • The ability to self-motivate and work with limited supervision
  • Active leadership qualities
