Plant seeds
Time: 15-30 minutes
Materials: seeds (native and easy to grow seeds include black eyed Susan and lupine), digging tools (forks work well too)
Activity: Locate a spot that you would like to plant. Have kids use their digging tools to loosen up the soil and get rid of any plants and grass growing in the area. Give each kid a few seeds to plant. Tuck the seeds in and water them. If the spot is close, visit regularly to water and watch the plants grow. Literacy bonus: add a story book about growing plants.
