Make an underwater viewer

Time: 20 minutes to create, 20-30 minutes to use

Materials:  tubes, cardboard boxes without tops or bottoms, or materials to make tubes 2 inches to 6 inches across; plastic cling wrap; rubber bands

Activity: Ask kids have you every wanted to see what a fish sees? Tell kids they will make underwater viewers to let them see underneath the water, and then they will try them out. For each tube/box, cut a piece of plastic wrap that will go about halfway up the side. Put the center of the plastic wrap smoothly across the bottom opening of the tube/box and secure it with one rubber band at the bottom and one about halfway up. Take your viewers to a safe water body to look underwater (alternate, put some toys at the bottom of a tub or pool of water and view them).
