Water play (make a river etc)
Time: 30-45 minutes
Materials: digging tools (forks and spoons work great), containers (optional), hose or watering can
Activity: Locate a dirt play area with some slope. Allow kids to dig channels, install ponds, and create a gravity fed course for the water. Pour water at the top of the slope and observe it as it follows the courses down. Change up your rivers and try again. Make observations about erosion, water color, speed, slope, or anything else that is interesting. Bonus: try using natural materials to create the best dam on your rivers.
