Though the end is in sight for COVID restrictions, the Federation was sad it could not come soon enough for us to hold our annual Sportsmen’s Reception during the 2021 Legislative Session. The Sportsmen’s Reception is a great opportunity to discuss important conservation and hunting issues with decision-makers, agency officials, representatives, and senators. In the past, the Governor has also spoken during the reception, addressing hunter and angler needs, as well as the importance of wildlife in this great state.
As a result, the Wyoming Wildlife Federation has rounded up hunter and angler voices from around the state, from Gillette to Jackson, Powell to Laramie, to express our appreciation for the continued support of Wyoming’s wildlife and wild places by Wyoming’s leaders. These voices represent people from hunting and angling nonprofit organizations, the oil and gas industry, travel and tourism, and even the Wind River Reservation. The commonality we all share is a love of wildlife, hunting and angling in this great state. With this message, the hope is that decision-makers in Wyoming hear about the things that matter from average Wyoming citizens who love our wildlife, hunting, angling, and making a living in this great state.
Included in this message are priorities that the hunting and angling community would like the legislature to focus on this session. Largely, the community supports lawmaking that continues to keep Wyoming what it is; a place where game populations are strong and recreational opportunities are abundant; a place where the economy is not in conflict with wildlife values, but works hand in hand to provide jobs; and a beautiful place to live, hunt, and fish.
The Federation cannot thank the people and organizations involved in this message enough. That list of businesses and organizations includes; SOS Well Services, Wyoming Trout Unlimited, Big Horn Armory, Jackson Eco-Tour Adventures, Bowhunters of Wyoming, Orvis – Jackson, Wyoming Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Pahaska TeePee Resort, the Mule Deer Foundation, and the Wyoming Wild Sheep Foundation.
The Wyoming Wildlife Federation sincerely appreciates the Wyoming Legislature’s continued commitment to keep Wyoming wild.
