Birding
Time: 5-10 minutes/observation
Materials: purchased or homemade bird feeders, bird field guide, class binoculars (optional), Merlin phone app (optional)
Activity: Observe birds around your classroom or at a feeder. Can we see different kinds of birds? If you have one, you can identify the birds you see in a field guide. Notice any patterns about when and where you see certain birds. Other bird watching aids include binoculars to see birds closer or the Merlin app, which can identify birds by song.
