Build a bridge (or boat)
Time: 15-20 minutes
Materials: none
Activity: Use a real water trickle or dig a ditch through a sandbox or similar. Tell kids they are going to pretend that little animals need some help crossing a ditch/stream/etc and they need to build the animals a bridge. Look around for objects that they can use to create their bridge and spend some time building the bridges. For more advanced kids, challenge them to find ways to connect or tie objects together with materials at hand. They can test their bridges with small toys if desired. This challenge can also be changed to make a small boat that will float down a stream (natural materials only).
